Ladies and gentlemen … I proudly present my hubby. In this post, Jay talks about the importance of searching for God daily. He discusses us allowing God to work in our lives and trusting Him to be in control. Both of which are essential as we grow in our Lord.
The 1st thing we have to understand about God being in control is how He works.
Philippians 2:3 says
For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.
GOD will work through YOU!!!
We often forget that His will and purpose are what are important. Being human, we have a tendency to get tied up in our own will and purposes. We have to look for God’s plans because He is working! There are people reading this who have had personal experiences with God, and I’m not talking about ancient history. I’m talking about God’s Spirit- alive and well – right here among my readers.
Please understand I’m not talking about some wild and crazy charismatic thing. I’m talking about people who love God, are in tune with Him, and are listening to His leading. God is working, but sometimes we don’t see it – or worse, we deny it. Even though we may not see everything going on around us, He is still there working.
He is still working through you.
GOD LEADS, WILL YOU FOLLOW?
Ephesians 1:9-10 says
and he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.
And Ecclesiastes 3:1 says
there is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven.
The list that follows verse one is extensive. It covers a lot of things, but the key is the word “everything”. There is a time for everything, and yes, there is a time for us to hear God’s voice. A time to see His leading in our lives!
Nowhere in the Bible does it say that God is going to abandon us or stop leading His people! I believe WE are the problem; we have stopped looking and longing for Him. Which means we stopped following Him.
TO FOLLOW HIM, WE MUST SEEK HIM
If you spend any time on computers, or if you know anything about the internet, you are familiar with search engines. You type in a question, word or phrase and the computer gives a response. Some of the more popular search engines are Google or Yahoo.
What if there was one for Christians? How about Yahweh? If we type “Searching for God” into our Yahweh search engine, I can imagine results coming out like this:
HE’S THERE, HE’S CLOSE…WE JUST HAVE TO SEE HIM!
God is not far from us! He is close by, working in our lives! Although we don’t always recognize the things He does, we can see more of what God is doing by being more aware of our surroundings. It is encouraging knowing that God is behind or working through what’s going on around us. That encouragement will lead to an increased faith. With increased faith and more awareness, we will start to attribute the things in our lives to God’s favor!
Maybe it’s a close parking spot or a seemingly random
detour. Maybe, like once in my life, it’s an annoying delay. We have to leave at 7 am to get wherever on time. However, we left 45 minutes late for no apparent reason. Then there was a traffic jam. We find out that about 45 minutes earlier there was a multi-car fatality accident. Most people sitting in that traffic jam were probably complaining about having to sit in traffic for an hour or so. I chose to believe that us leaving late and avoiding a fatal accident was God’s favor.
IT’S ALL IN HOW YOU LOOK AT IT
The thing we need to realize is that we have to be faithful…we have to look for God & believe that He is working in our lives right now! We have to live by faith and with expectancy!
1 Thessalonians 2:13 says “… God’s word is working in those who believe.”
When we expect good things, we will see more of God’s favor in our lives! The things we go through – our problems – they don’t baffle God. He knows the answers! The best part is God is in control!
Our attitude is what needs to be in line. We have to trust God! He will bring us through and we will be better for it! He knows who to influence in our lives and we need to have the faith He will! Why? Because our faith is what activates His actions!
Proverbs 3:5-6 says
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
When we trust God and have faith in Him it allows Him to do more in our lives. The point is that God has a plan for each of us and He is in control. I believe that with all my heart, and I hope that you do too.
WHERE DO YOU GO FROM HERE?
Please know that there is nothing we can’t do if we have faith in God and seek His kingdom and righteousness. Make a commitment to God today and start expecting His leading. Look for His blessings. Ask Him to help you see His favor. Pray He will give you the wisdom to know what His will is for you!
Maybe you don’t know about God’s favor or leading in your life because you have never become His child. When Peter preached the 1st recorded sermon after Jesus ascended to heaven, the crowds were touched in their hearts and asked Brothers, what shall we do? In Acts 2:38:
Peter replied, Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off-for all whom the Lord our God will call.
We have the same opportunity those people had…If you have never been baptized in the name of Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins. NOW is the time to start your walk with God! Please seek out a Bible believing, Bible following church of God’s people. You can also contact my wife or me for more information.
Maybe you have let life pull you away from God. You may be at a point where you can’t hear God leading you because you are separated from Him. James 5:16 says that we should confess our sins to each other and pray for each other so we can be healed. It also says the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
We, my wife and I, would love to pray for you!
I love Jay’s passion for our Lord and his humility in knowing how much he needs God. I hope this has encouraged you.
